Kigoma Cultural Tour

Kigoma is one of the Regions of Tanzania and is located in the extreme West of the country. The most prominent attraction in Kigoma is, of course, Lake Tanganyika. The lake is the second deepest lake in the world and makes its way across the floor of the Great Rift Valley.

Ujiji was the first town to be established in Kigoma and boasts an important place in history as the host town of David Livingstone who called Ujiji home as he explored the Source of the Nile. Ultimately Dr. Livingstone died in Ujiji and the relics of his exploits can be found in the Livingstone Museum.

The area is populated by the Wahe people who make their living in farming and fishing. These very friendly people raise palm plants from which they extract palm oil, cassava, maize, millet, beans, cotton and other food crops. They are also strident fishermen hauling their catch from the depths of the great Lake.

Gombe National Park

Aside from teeming in extraordinary natural beauty, Gombe National Park is home to a vast number of chimpanzees. Here you will take in this natural beauty while watching these wonderfully fun creatures.
