
When your plane arrieves in Africa, you will meet with Open Africa tour guides at the airport for introductions, then we will take you to your hotel where you can rest and shower.
Day 1:
After breakfast you will have your morning free. We will take you to Moshi for lunch at a local restaurant to try local African food. After lunch we will give you a tour of the town of Moshi, where you will be able to view the highest mountain in Africa, Mt. Killimanjaro. After town tour you can go back to your hotel for a little rest before dinner.
Day 2:
We will depart from your hotel at 10 am after breakfast for Marangu village. There you will get a Chagga tribe culture tour and a tour of the beautiful waterfalls there. We will return to our hotel in the evening.
Day 3-7:
Depart from your hotel to Maasai village for 5 days to experience Maasai culture. You will live and interact with the people from the village, learn about their every day life and customs. We will stop at Shop Rite so you can pruchase snacks or drinks for your safari. It is also a good idea to get a little something for the children of the Maasai village such as candy.
After Shop Rite, we will travel to Meserani Snake Park wehre you can do any or all of three activities; visit the snake and reptile park with a guided tour, ride a camel, and /or visit the Maasai Cultural Museum. Lunch will be served here. This is also a great place to purchase gifts and crafts made by the Maasai mamas. They are both beautiful and reasonably priced.
After a stop at the local Maasai market where you can see locals trading and selling their goods, we will arrive at Monduli Village. You will spend the next five days learning about their culture and traditions such as how they dress, what they eat, and how they celebrate. You are encouraged to join the men and women in traditional Maasai dancing and singing. It is really an unforgettable experience. You will meet with elders and the chief and medicine man.
Day 8:
Depart from Maasai village around 8am to Lake Manyara National Park. A culture tour is provided at Lake Manyara of all 120 tribes in Tanzania. All 120 tribes are represented here. You can sit with Makonde, who makes carvings, and Chagga that make their own beer from bananas. After culture tour you will go for a walking safari at Lake Manyara where you can view flamingos, baboons, and other birds. Return to our luxury campsite in the evening. The campsite as a bar, a swimming pool, and hot showers.
After dinner you will be able to see acrobats and traditional drumming in the bar.
Day 9:
Depart from Twiga campsite to Serengeti National Park. Stop at Olduvai Gorge which is located between Serengeti National Park and Ngorogoro conservation area to view the "first footsteps of man". We will continue to Serengeti for all day game drive and set up camp at Simba camp site.
Day 10:
Wake up at 6am so we can catch the sunrise over the Serengeti, then breakfast, and a sunrise game drive. Dinner at campsite.
Day 11:
Today is another full day game drive.
Day 12:
Today is another full day game drive.
Day 13:
Today we will go to Ngorongoro crater for all day game drive.
Day 14:
Today we will go to Tarangire National park for a half day game drive then back to Moshi to stay at a hotel. In the evening we will have a group dinner to celebrate and congregete.
Day 15:
You can either fly home or stay on the climb Mt. Killimanjaro, volunteer at a local orphanage, school, or hospital, or take a relaxing vacation on the beaches of Zanzibar.
